Ease Depression and Anxiety Symptoms with Regular Exercise (Well Being)
If you suffer from anxiety and depression, you might find that a regular exercise program will be of great help to you. It's by no means a cure for these mental health conditions, but research has proven that increasing your physical activity level will provide great benefits and significantly improve your current condition.
It's a known fact that a regular workout routine is the best way to maintain a good fitness level and an excellent way to prevent such problems as diabetes, obesity, hypertension and a host of other diseases, but an increasing amount of research has now shown us that increased physical activity can also greatly aid symptoms of many mental conditions, especially anxiety and depression.
Doctors and Researchers have suggested that 30-45 minutes of exercise, at least 3-5 days per week will considerably improve anxiety and depression symptoms. Exercise provides such positive changes as elevating mood, relieving stress and helping you think more clearly.
It's not 100% clear just how exercise reduces symptoms related to anxiety and depression, but there is strong evidence that increasing physical activity increases mood enhancing neurotransmitters in the brain. As a direct result of exercise, feel-good endorphins are significantly amplified, body tension is released, nerves are calmed, increased self-esteem, you are able to focus and think more clearly, and you will sleep more soundly. These are just a few of the proven benefits of exercise.
Having such positive and powerful changes taking place in your body and mind can greatly improve symptoms of depression such as irritability, anger, constant sadness, mind and body stress, self doubt, hopelessness, panic attacks, fear, trouble sleeping, low energy and fatigue, difficulty concentrating, loss of interest in some of your favorite activities, feeling worthless or guilty for no reason, as well as significant weight changes.
Please note that in "more serious" cases of depression, exercise "is not" a replacement for professional mental health medical treatment , exercise is more like a helpful and powerful natural supplement.
* Always consult your medical provider before beginning an exercise regimen.
Regarding more-milder forms of depression and anxiety, exercise has been proven to be good medicine and may be the only treatment you need.
There is no doubt that regular exercise is a very important piece to the puzzle in regards to maintaining good mental health for all of us.
